Endo Meets Endocrine System

Endo Meets Endocrine System

Updated on 4/24/2019, 3:42:40 PM

Did you know? We humans each have an endocannabinoid system. Scientists understand that CB1 cannabinoid receptors are found in the brain and spinal cord and that the CB2 receptors are mainly found in the immune system, blood system and organs and glands thus activating these has the potential to affect the whole body!

The master controller of the endocrine system is housed in the brain. The main “highway” for hormonal communication is known as the HPA axis, the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis, which is known as the main route to the thyroid as well as our reproductive hormones.

When learning about Cannabis Medicine through the A4M, all of the physician experts stated they started with research in fatty acids and omega-3s. They were aware of the needed and healing properties of healthy fats on the brain and nervous system and their research paths lead to cannabis and other neuromodulatory lipids activating the endocannabinoid system.

Could it be that the combination of the prohibition of this plant and the fat-free craze of the 80s has led to the rise of debilitating chronic endocrine dysfunction?

By depriving our systems of this hormonally balancing plant, it is no wonder that the rates of endocrine, reproductive and fertility issues have increased at an alarming rate over the past 80 years.

Conditions like diabetes results in multi-organ system issues and conditions including neuropathies, glaucoma, insulin-sensitivity and pain.  Conditions including neuropathies, glaucoma and pain are qualifying conditions under Amendment #2 for Medical Marijuana in Missouri.

It is very exciting to see how the future course of diabetes and chronic endocrine dysfunction will change with the reintroduction of medical marijuana and CBD Hemp medicine.

When seeking your medical marijuana card in order to manage immune dysfunction including your chronic disease of endocrine dysfunction, make sure to make an appointment with Dr. Z or another healthcity doctor who can help you make appropriate decisions at the dispensary.  During the appointment, we will review your treatment goals and find some appropriate strains, review ratio and mode of use of cannabis medicine. You will receive a physician certification attesting that medical marijuana is deemed helpful in your condition under Amendment #2.  Upon receiving your card from the State of Missouri DHSS, you will be allowed to purchase 4 oz of medical marijuana from dispensaries each month, and/or grow 6 plants for personal medicinal use.
